Did you all hear that Blake got to do security for the last General Conference? He went down to a training meeting, and then had to spend all day for three days down at the Conference center. He got to check the bags of people coming in. They taught him what to do if he found guns, and stuff. He said it was funny to see what some people had in their purses. The most common thing....poptarts. One lady had a huge knife. She said it was to cut her apple that she had in he purse. You will have to ask him about it. Another friend that did it with Blake said he found marijuana. He turned it in.

I promised the lowdown, so here goes.  After logging over 1,000 miles on my bike this summer, I finally did the LOTOJA bike race.  It is a race from Logan to Jackson.  It is 206 miles.  I did it as a team with four other women. It was really fun. My leg of the race was 34 miles. I was suppose to have a ride that was mostly flat and down hill, but I had a headwind blowing in my face the whole time, so it felt like it was all uphill.  All of us were faster than we thought we would be, and so we finished the race in 11 hours 16 minutes.  I did my 34 miles in about 1h 40m. When we looked at the results we are grouped together with all of the mens teams and mixed teams. We were the third fastest all womens team.  Not bad for a bunch of old ladies.  I was the youngest. The first place womens team beat us by 20 minutes and they were 10 years younger than us on average. So we felt pretty good. It was a great day and the scenery was beautiful.  Doug, Blake, and Jase came up to watch me, and take pictures.  I think I almost have Blake talked into doing it with me next year.
I don't know why this ride was such a big deal, I certainly rode further rides and harder rides this summer.  I guess because it was a race.
The great thing about this summer is that it feels really good to be able to get on my bike and go about 20 miles an hour for a couple of hours, and feel good, or to be able to climb big hills one after the other, and want to do more when you are at the top.  We frequently rode the rode up to Deer Valley, or over to Kamas.
The bad news is that after 1,000 miles, I only lost 1 pound.  BOOHOO.
Well, thanks for your interest in this little adventure of mine.
